Knock-Down (KD) Engineering

What is KD Engineering?

Knock-Down (KD) refers to the engineering and manufacturing of furniture in a disassembled or flat-pack configuration specifically designed for efficient ocean container loading. KD goods are shipped in compact cartons and assembled at the destination warehouse or by the end consumer.

A.J. Craftex has developed strong in-house competency in KD design and production. The engineering team works directly with clients to analyze product geometry and identify opportunities for flat-pack conversion without compromising structural integrity or finished appearance.

KD Freight Advantages

Factor Fully Assembled KD-Engineered
Container Cube Utilization 55–65% 85–95%
Units per 40' HC Container Variable (lower) Substantially higher
Per-Unit Landed Freight Cost Higher Reduced 25–40%
Damage Risk in Transit Moderate Lower
Warehouse Receiving Efficiency Standard Improved stacking/palletizing

Warehousing & Pre-Shipment Staging

The manufacturing facility includes a spacious, well-organized warehousing area equipped with appropriate handling and safety systems. The warehouse is divided into multiple compartments for organized inventory staging, finished goods storage, and pre-shipment consolidation.

All goods are staged and inspected prior to container loading. Packaging is configured based on the shipping specification agreed upon with each client — including individual poly-wrap, corner protection, carton boxing, and palletization where required.
